Community Impact on Homelessness
United Way of Hudson Countyprovides funding support to many social services agencies working with our homeless population. Our funding goes to:
- three subsidized rooms at a Bayonne facility for homeless men
- support and provisions for frail elderly in Jersey City
- support for a training program for 59 shelter residents
- housing support for Hudson County individuals with HIV/AIDS
- 33 evening meals and 16 breakfasts for Hoboken shelter residents on a daily basis
- transitional housing for 8 adults in Hudson County
- a Jersey City soup kitchen that feeds 125 and pantries that feed 350 homeless men, women and children on a monthly basis
- educational services in Jersey City for pregnant women and their children with HIV, TB, diabetes and hypertension
- two-unit family shelter in North Hudson plus clothing, household items, and more
- battered women’s shelter for 189 women and children
- food pantry for 400 families served each month
- 24/7 call center providing referrals to local services for homeless men, women and children
